What does 1pm ET mean? ›

The term Eastern Time (ET) is often used to denote the local time in areas observing either Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) or Eastern Standard Time (EST). In other words, in locations observing Daylight Saving Time (DST) during part of the year, Eastern Time is not static but switches between EDT and EST.

ET stands for Eastern Time. It's a catch-all term that refers to EST or EDT, whichever currently applies. If you're in an area that observes Daylight Saving Time and you're not sure whether to use EDT or EST, it's always safe to use ET. ET refers to EST when EST is the local time and EDT when EDT is the local time.

There are no standards established for the meaning of 12am and 12pm. It is often said that 12am Monday is midnight on Monday morning and 12pm is midday. This puts all the times beginning with 12 and ending with am in the same one-hour block, similarly with those ending with pm.

California Is in the Pacific Time Zone

California uses Pacific Standard Time (PST) during standard time and Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) during Daylight Saving Time (DST). California shares its time zone and DST schedule with bordering states Oregon and Nevada.

Eastern Standard Time (EST) is 1 hour ahead of Central Standard Time (CST). To convert EST to CST, you have to subtract one hour. Eastern Standard Time (EST) is 2 hours ahead of Mountain Standard Time (MST).

The larger western part is in the Central Time Zone, while East Tennessee in the Appalachian Mountains is located, except for three counties, in the Eastern Time Zone. Almost everything in Texas is in Central Time; only two counties in one corner of the west, El Paso and Hudspeth observe Mountain Time.

The U.S. Eastern Standard Time zone consists of: Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, and West Virginia.

During the months of Daylight Savings Time, the abbreviation EST does not even exist. Please stop making this mistake. Or, if you want to make life even simpler, just say ET (Eastern Time). This, too, is perfectly acceptable.
